Author's Notes: I'm not sure where this came from, except that I'm pretty sure it was a timed writing, and so it just sort of... came out.

Making Wishes

"Shooting star," Ishida Tetsu murmured, and Akira looked up automatically, making a wish. Ishida had read about that custom in America, and he and the rest of his Junior High team had adopted it - and the resultant "work for what you wish for" that seemed to accompany it. He leaned back, smiling, and looked over at his friend. "What did you wish for?" he asked.

Tetsu blushed. "That tomorrow goes well."

Akira grinned. They were both pleasantly buzzed - not drunk, because An would kill them if they showed up hung over - a comfortable state, and since they really didn't have to move, he didn't. "Yeah," he said. "Me, too."

Because tomorrow, his first love would marry his first… rival? Yes, that's what to call him, and Akira could only wish them well.

After all, he had his own life, his own loves, far away, and trying to hold them back would only be selfish. And he'd given up on that a long time ago.
