Part 08

Brian paced like a caged animal. AJ, crouched on the chair he'd been sitting in, timed his leap perfectly, knocking him onto the bed and landing on top of him. "You know," he told his startled friend conversationally, "you are beginning to drive me crazy. And you know how short a drive that really is."

"Get off!" Brian insisted, pushing AJ away and sitting up again.

AJ remained laying on the bed where Brian had pushed him. "Come on, B-Rok! Tim said they were on their way back. He sound like he was going to kill Kevin himself, so if you have plans on doing so, make tracks for Lexington."

"Train!" he bellowed, and jerked Kevin into the room. Kevin barely had time to drop his bag before AJ caught him in a hug. "What are you doing here? I thought for sure you'd be dead or grounded." He smirked; Kevin smirked back.

"It wasn't as if he didn't try," he said.

"Kev?" Brian asked, the receiver forgotten in his hand.

"Hey, Brian," Kevin grinned. "I... got better."

AJ laughed out loud. "You sound like you were a newt," he said, on his way out the door. His last glimpse was of the two cousins, hugging.
