Akira still didn't like the whole situation with An; it made him extremely uncomfortable. He really didn't like the comment he'd overheard, about Ohtori's parents, but that was possibly something he could do about.
Shinji was better at this, but when he'd called, his friend was buried in studying and couldn't help him out. Akira didn't even tell him why he'd called, not wanting to distract him from something that was well, more important to his future, anyway. It wasn't more important than An, and Shinji would have agreed.
Akira had a weekend free of homework, or close enough to it, and he woke up early Saturday morning to start. He wanted to know what Ohtori's parents might do to An. The best way to do that was to hack into Ohtori-san's computer - possibly, for him, the only way.
It took all weekend, but Sunday night he managed to get into the computer. He had a skill for this, but when it involved someone he cared it about, it came as close to a sixth sense as he ever considered it.
And he struck gold, too. There it was, an email to a family he didn't know - wait, wasn't that the name Ohtori had mentioned? Yeah, that sounded about right. Ohtori-san was not happy about this engagement, as the bulk of the email testified; there were a lot of words describing An that he'd get slapped for using in front of his mother, about any girl.
But it was the most recent message that made him angry and nervous all at once. "He's going to try and pay her off - or threaten her off? Well, if the guy is anything like Ohtori said, I bet he'll threaten her," he muttered to himself.
Time to let Kippei know something was going on. He printed the email, turned off his computer, and reached for the phone to call his friend and former captain.
