Reality

Tifa paused in the doorway to her spare room and smiled. Cloud lay on the bed there, dead to the world. She wasn't surprised; he'd come back from the church, changed into dry clothes, and collapsed.

Her smile faded a little. How many times had she done this, only to have the vision fade? Hesitantly, she stepped in, afraid it would happen again, but he remained present, utterly still but for the gentle rise and fall of his chest.

She reached out and her fingers brushed his cheek. He was solid -

And awake, blue eyes bleary from sleep. "Tifa?" he murmured.

"I'm sorry I woke you," she whispered. "I just wanted to make sure you were real. Go back to sleep."

His eyes shut again, and she sighed softly, turning to leave.

He was here, and he was real. She wondered how many nights she'd touch him while he slept before she believed it.
