Shin-Ra

Rufus Shinra looked at Reno as he hung up and shrugged. "Tifa said she'd pass the message on."

He had to be contented with that. He glanced at the diamond insignia on the wall, almost all that was left of the glory that had been his father's company. His legacy.

And now his son was reduced to this - virtually hiding at Healin, draped in a light blanket so no one knew he was still alive, and cursed with the blasted stigma. Reduced to hiring Cloud Strife - of all people! - because he was the only one who had any chance at all of defeating these… boys Hojo had created.

Damn lunatic.

Rufus didn't know exactly how Cloud would take to his offer. Considering what Hojo had done to the young man - and that Hojo had worked for Shinra. But he needed more protection; his Turks were good, but he'd lost Tseng and Elena, and Cloud was all there was around here.

Reno reappeared from a side room and handed Rufus his phone. "Kadaj," the redhead said, strangely serious. Rufus answered, and then hung up abruptly before the… experiment, whatever, got more than a few words out. From Reno's demeanor, it had not happened soon enough. And he'd heard Reno yelling.

"He's coming here," he said flatly. "Call Strife again."

Reno nodded, took the phone back, and vanished back into the side room; Rude followed.

Rufus relaxed, gently caressing the case in his lap. Whatever Cloud's answer, things would work out. And he'd know, eventually, why those boys wanted the rest of Jenova enough to kill his people.
