Summary: A night in is interrupted by
a phone call.
Author's Notes: These two are hard
to write! And granted, this scenario is unrealistic, but I had to get the point
across. Also, it is a sequel to Meeting Halfway.
Disclaimer: Characters are owned by Konomi Takeshi, and whoever did the
anime. At any rate, it's not me.
They'd decided on his apartment because his roommate was usually out, and Kippei had offered to cook for them and supply the movie. Dinner had been delicious, but when Kippei had pulled out the movie, Syuichiro had protested.
"I don't do well with horror," he said again as Kippei settled next to him on the couch after putting it in.
Kippei smiled at him before leaning forward and tapping him gently on the nose. "All the better," he said, picked up the remote, and pushed play.
"Better?" Syuichiro asked, and then the movie started and he shrank closer to Kippei. The former Fudomine buchou slid his arm around Syuichiro.
"Definitely," Kippei whispered into his ear. "Definitely better."
Halfway through the movie, Syuichiro had nearly climbed into his date's lap, eyes buried in Kippei's shoulder. "I hate you for doing this," he muttered, and then jumped when his phone rang.
Kippei paused the movie as Shuichiro reached for his phone. "Hello?"
"Oishi?"
"Speaking."
"This is Kato Toshiko."
"Oh. Hi." Strange. Why would he be calling?
"Who is it?" Kippei asked, reaching around him to hold him again, and Syuichiro leaned back into him, shaking his head.
"Hey. I'm really sorry about last week, and I hope you didn't wait too long for me. I'd like to have that date, though; are you free tomorrow night?"
"Hang on." Syuichiro covered the mouthpiece, and gave Kippei a sly smile. "Are we busy tomorrow night?"
Kippei regarded him, one eyebrow raised. "Oh, I think I can come up with something," he said. "Do you want to be?"
"Not with him," he responded, nodding toward the phone.
"Then yes, you're busy tomorrow night."
Syuichiro smiled, and put the phone back to his ear. "I'm sorry, tomorrow night is bad. In fact," he added slowly, feeling Kippei's arms tighten around him, "I don't think I'm going to be free again for a long time."
He heard only silence for a moment. "Ah. Well. Good luck. Sorry to bother you. Good night."
"Good night." Syuichiro hung up, set the phone back on the table, and settled back into Kippei's embrace as the other man started the movie again.
No, he wasn't interested in anyone else right now. And maybe never again.
And maybe next time they did this, he'd suggest a horror movie himself.
