Akira did not like this feeling; he felt like he was telling someone's secret, and he was in college, for Pete's sake! But if An were in trouble - and he was pretty sure the guy would try to threaten her first because those with money don't like to part with it - he was going to need Kippei's help.

The met for lunch, the only time both of them had free within a reasonable amount of time, and Akira launched into the story - what he'd overheard, what he'd done.

Kippei held up a hand. "Wait. You overheard the conversation by accident?"

"No. I listened on purpose."

Kippei smirked. "If An ever finds out, she'll castrate you."

Akira grimaced. "Yes. And I'm counting on you not to let her know."

"So, on what you overheard, you hacked into his father's email?"

"I could have gotten more, but I figured that was the best place to start and got something. He said he'd either pay her off or threaten her, and I'm pretty sure he'll do the latter."

Kippei nodded. "You're probably right," he mused. "Akira, do you trust me to handle it?"

Akira stared. "Trust you? Of course! You're her brother. I'm merely a friend."

"Then I will," Kippei said. "Don't worry. And I'll let you know what happens. Deal?"

"Deal," Akira agreed.
